Net Conscience Page
THIS PAGE states the rules of a "Net Conscience Page".
Aims
-
The aim of a Net Conscience Page is to provide for expression
of your conscience while safeguarding the liberties and rights of others.
You are to say what you have on your mind, but other people should not
be accused falsely or be annoyed without you providing a very good reason.
-
A Net Conscience Page thus aims at discussion and fair play.
Rules on references
-
On a Net Conscience Page you state: "This
is a Net Conscience Page", and this statement of yours contains a link
to THIS PAGE so that everybody can check on the rules that you abide by.
(For example, see the NCP statement at the bottom of
this page.)
-
Note that THIS PAGE has a name with a date in it. In the
course of time some rules may be updated, and a file with a new date will
be made, so that you are free to check whether you go along with the new
rules.
-
Your also state your name and link.
-
You add a reference and link to those who explicitly oppose
your statements, especially when they have asked you to do so; or provide
a statement that explains why you will not comply, when asked.
Rules on content
-
Write on your page what you want, while keeping in mind the
interests of others, and while being aware that others can write about
you.
-
If a court of the country of your site rules your page to
be inappropriate (or whatever phrase the court might use) then you are
to adapt your page accordingly. (In extreme cases you may read this as:
If you don’t agree with the customs of your country, find a site in another
country.)
-
If you don’t adapt your page, and others provide THIS PAGE
with court rulings that you should have adapted the contents, then your
name and the court decision reference will be listed on the Net
Conscience REPORTS Page, so that everybody can check that you didn’t
abide by the rules (even though you promised to abide !).
-
So RULE 1 is: adjust your page when other people provide
reason to you, and be sure to do so when a court says so.
(For clarity: Of course you may state the court order
and clarify why you don’t agree. Be aware then, that it is you versus the
court...)
Rules for subjects
-
For those people who are subject of a Net Conscience Page:
if you don’t agree, inform the author of that page.
-
Obviously, you can post your disagreement on your own site
while abiding to the rules on THIS PAGE.
-
You might consider that it is sufficient that the problem
page refers to your own page. Then, ask the orginal author to do so.
-
If it should come to a court decision, inform THIS PAGE,
and the decision, name and reference will be posted on the REPORTS Page.
-
So RULE 2 is: ask others to adapt their Net Conscience Page
if you see reason for that.
Exceptions to these rules
-
THIS PAGE and the REPORTS Page need not refer to other pages
that oppose these pages.
